About being our Office/Field Engineer

As our Office/Field Engineer, you will be part of Psomas' Construction Management (CM) Group, while supporting specific assignments for the Bay Area Regional CM Team. This team specializes in managing the construction of heavy civil, public works infrastructure projects - primarily upgrades and expansions to wastewater/water treatment plants, recycled water facilities, pipelines, and pump stations. As our Office/Field Engineer, you will provide technical support of field construction matters; assist with interpretation of the project documentation such as plans and specifications; process project communications; and observe construction activities. You will utilize your expertise to help develop and maintain the project administration records while adhering to safety practices; understanding client goals; establish and maintain effective client relationships; and support the team to achieve set goals. Our Office/Field Engineers work in the field on project sites, therefore candidates must reside locally and/or be able to make the daily commute.

This opening is to initially support on-going assignments inUnion City, where our teams are managing multiple heavy civil projects over the next several years. Future assignments may vary in scope, complexity, and size. You may support projects with a combination of civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural elements.

Responsibility Highlights for our Office/Field Engineer

  • Provide technical support of field construction matters including writing change orders, processing documents, and progress payments
  • Process project communications between client, design engineer, and contractor
  • Observe construction activities on an active construction site
  • Assist with document interpretation of project plans and specifications
  • Maintain project files, documents, and as-built schedules
  • Monitor Prevailing Wage laws, regulations, and labor compliance efforts

Minimum Qualifications to be our Office/Field Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
  • 0- 5 years years of experience with general civil infrastructure and public works construction
  • Knowledge of the construction process and the ability to read, understand, and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with minimal supervision and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work on an active construction site, including walking over uneven terrain, climbing ladders, crawling, stooping and entering confined spaces, being outdoors in inclement weather, wearing proper safety equipment, and practicing industry safety protocols

Preferred Qualifications for our Office/Field Engineer

  • Familiarity with cloud-based construction management software
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certification
