JOB PURPOSE

The job holder will ensure that process requirements for all products are documented via process flow diagrams. The process engineer will also have an overview of future innovations and the process requirements for each of these. In addition to defining current and future process requirements, the process engineer will conduct a thorough audit of our current manufacturing capabilities, ensuring that all details are well documented and available to the team. Beyond information gathering and documentation, the process engineer will use their expertise of ice cream manufacturing and factory operations to identify opportunities for simplification and cost-optimisation within our portfolio of products, formulations and raw materials, waste reduction and efficiency improvements. By analysing technical, financial and supply chain data, the risks and rewards associated with each opportunity will be defined and prioritised accordingly. The process engineer will deliver priorities by leading projects.

This role will be made as a permanent appointment with the expectation that the incumbent is releasable for other opportunities between 18-30 months, depending on how priorities evolve.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, organising, and executing projects, working in close partnership with cross-functional teams and with R&D experts from a variety of fields. This may include production of samples in the laboratory and pilot plant; physical testing of materials and products; cost calculations; quality assessments; legislation compliance checks and claims assessments.

  • Creating and maintaining a detailed schedule for key transformation initiatives, sub-projects, and activities.

  • Documenting process requirements for all product types, across the whole portfolio.

  • Auditing and documenting supply chain capabilities.

  • Ensuring supply chain capabilities remain future fit by remaining informed of innovation needs and best practise.

  • Ensuring project networks and risk assessments are regularly reviewed with the cross-functional team.

  • Managing change to production lines and environments. Ensuring food and occupational safety is not compromised via management tools such as dHACCP and HAZOP.

  • Providing regular updates to stakeholders, communicating bottlenecks, and proposing solutions to keep projects on track.

  • Identifying investment needs and preparing CapEx requests.

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • This high-paced role will ideally suit a high energy individual with bias for action and a “can do” attitude.

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent)

  • Relevant experience in food technology or engineering. Ideally, previous experience of working in food production facilities.

  • Experience of working cross-functionally and with third parties

  • Strong project management skills and experience

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of allergen management
