Description Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. This role requires strong analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to mentor entry level staff members. Key Responsibilities: General Ledger Management: Oversee and manage general ledger accounting functions. Prepare and post complex journal entries accurately and timely. Perform regular reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements. Conduct financial analysis to interpret financial data and make informed business decisions. Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare and review month-end balance sheet and income statement schedules. Ensure all financial data is accurate and reconciled before closing. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts. Analyze budget variances and provide insights on financial performance. Work with departmental heads to manage budget compliance. Internal Controls and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements. Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes. Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight: Supervise the accounts payable and receivable processes. Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Oversee reconciliation of receivables and follow-up on overdue accounts. Tax Compliance: Prepare and review tax filings and compliance reports. Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors. Ensure all tax documentation is accurate and submitted on time. Team Leadership: Mentor and provide guidance to entry level accounting staff. Assist in training new team members and developing their accounting skills. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the finance team. Requirements Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong experience in general ledger functions and financial statement preparation. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems). In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Key Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Effective organizational and time management skills. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
