Gift of Life Michigan Senior Human Resource Generalist in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Summary

This position plays a crucial role in promoting a positive work environment and fostering strong relationships within our teams. The person in this role is a problem solver.

Their main focus is to provide guidance and support to all staff on employee relations matters. This includes advising on best practices for maintaining positive relationships, guiding feedback processes and handling concerns in an effective and timely manner. The person in this role will also support the development and implementation of training programs to ensure that leaders and staff are equipped to handle matters effectively. Through a partnership with the Manager, Human Resources, our Senior HR Generalist will be an integral part of developing and implementing our performance management programs. Additional duties include supporting areas of health and safety, policy development, collaboration with other HR team members and involvement in HR projects as needed. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as business partner to managers, providing day-to-day talent management guidance (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) and policy interpretation.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Champion the Gift of Life culture and serve as a trusted resource for all employees.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the organization performance management program, leading the day-to-day administration of the program.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, leading document creation as assigned.
  • Partner with the Manager, Human Resources in the administration of worker's compensation and annual OSHA reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with members of the HR team to provide guidance to management on workforce planning, succession planning, and coaching and development needs.
  • Lead and complete personnel investigations, as assigned.
  • Manage the termination process.
  • Support department initiatives in talent acquisition; learning & development; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; employee engagement; and other areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with other support teams (e.g., finance, administration, IT, quality) to ensure personnel information is accurately maintained across organizational systems.
  • Assist with internal audits of HR records to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedure, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
